Your Role:
The Experienced Roller Operator is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of rollers and compaction equipment across civil construction and earthworks projects. The role requires an experienced operator who can achieve specified compaction requirements while maintaining safe work practices, completing daily plant inspections, and working effectively with graders, water carts and other earthmoving equipment. This role suits someone who thrives in a hands-on environment, has valuable communication skills and the drive to succeed.

This position is not available as FIFO.
Applicants must reside in the Northern Territory.
No relocation assistance is available.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

All candidates will be required to pass a pre-employment medical, and regular drug and alcohol screening. This position will be located at our remote Project Site, with rotating shifts of 2 weeks on, 1 week off.

- Safely operate smooth drum, padfoot and multi-tyred rollers

- Carry out compaction of subgrade, fill, road base, hardstands, access roads and other construction materials





- Perform rolling patterns and passes in accordance with project and compaction requirements

- Maintain consistent coverage, speed and overlap to achieve required compaction

- Work closely with grader operators, water cart operators and supervisors to achieve required levels and moisture conditions

- Identify unsuitable ground conditions, soft spots or other issues and report them promptly

- Operate safely around personnel, plant, services, batters, edges and restricted work areas

- Follow survey pegs, site markings and supervisor instruction

- Complete daily pre-start inspections and required documentation

- Maintain the roller in a clean and serviceable condition

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

- Minimum of 3 year’s experience operating different roller types and sizes

- Demonstrated experience operating rollers on civil construction or earthworks projects

- Relevant Roller Operator competency/ticket

- Construction Industry White Card

- Current Australian driver's licence

- Strong understanding of compaction techniques and rolling patterns

- Ability to complete plant pre-starts and identify mechanical or safety defects

- Ability to follow site plans, instructions and safe work procedures

- Good communication skills and ability to work as part of a civil crew

- Reliable, safety-focused and able to work with minimal supervision

- Physically capable of performing the inherent requirements of the position
