Ribs Lane is a busy restaurant located in Mount Lawley, offering a diverse menu with a strong focus on quality ribs, grilled dishes, burgers, seafood and other freshly prepared meals.
HARI MTL PTY LTD trading as Ribs Lane is seeking a suitably qualified and experienced Chef to join our kitchen team on a full-time basis. We are looking for a reliable and motivated Chef who is comfortable working in a modern, fast-paced commercial kitchen and can consistently maintain high standards of food quality, presentation, hygiene and kitchen organisation.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
As a Chef, your responsibilities will include:
- Planning and assisting with the development of menus in consultation with management and the kitchen team.
- Preparing, seasoning and cooking a variety of dishes in accordance with established recipes, menu specifications and restaurant standards.
- Monitoring the quality of food throughout preparation, cooking and presentation to ensure consistency and high standards.
- Estimating food requirements and assisting with food costing, stock control and ordering of kitchen supplies.
- Checking the quality and freshness of ingredients and ensuring food is stored correctly.
- Coordinating food preparation and service activities to ensure meals are prepared accurately and within required service times.
- Working closely with management, kitchen staff and front-of-house staff to address food preparation and service requirements.
- Demonstrating cooking techniques and providing guidance to other kitchen staff regarding preparation methods and cooking procedures.
- Maintaining appropriate portion control and minimising food wastage.
- Ensuring kitchen equipment and work areas are used safely, efficiently and maintained in a clean and organised condition.
- Ensuring compliance with food safety, hygiene, sanitation and workplace health and safety requirements.
- Assisting with the training and supervision of junior kitchen staff where required.
- Contributing ideas for new dishes and improvements to existing menu items.
- Supporting the kitchen team during busy service periods and ensuring the smooth day-to-day operation of the kitchen.
Skills, Qualifications and Experience Required
Applicants must have:
- Certificate III in Commercial Cookery.
- Certificate IV in Commercial Cookery.
- Advanced Diploma in Hospitality Management.
- A minimum of 1 year of relevant experience as a Chef in a commercial kitchen environment.
- Experience working in a modern commercial kitchen setup, including familiarity with contemporary kitchen equipment, food preparation systems and service procedures.
- Experience working in a similar fast-paced restaurant or hospitality environment.
- Strong knowledge of food preparation, cooking techniques and food presentation.
- Good understanding of food safety, hygiene and secure food-handling requirements.
- Ability to maintain consistent food quality and presentation during busy service periods.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a kitchen team.
- Good organisational and time-management skills.
- Ability to follow established recipes, portion standards and kitchen procedures.
- Availability to work according to the operational requirements of the restaurant, including busy service periods.
What We Offer
- Annual salary of $80,000 - $83,000 plus 12% superannuation.
