Our well-respected Planning & Impact Assessment group of 40 professionals has an opportunity for an accomplished, well-connected Technical Director - Urban Planning to join their Victorian & Tasmanian team. Our Planning team of approximately 8 delivers statutory, strategic planning and environmental planning services to client projects in our property and buildings, transport, water, future energy and resources, environmental and defence market sectors.

As a technical leader, you'll play a key role in shaping the strategic direction and continued growth of our urban planning capability. You'll bring a strong commercial mindset, established client relationships and a genuine passion for developing high-performing teams, while helping to identify and realise new opportunities.

This diverse and exciting role will see you working on national and international projects, with responsibilities including:
n
Providing technical leadership, strategic advice and resource coordination across a diverse portfolio of major projects spanning multiple sectors.
n
Acting as Technical Director/Reviewer on the design and delivery of complex urban planning projects, ensuring fit-for-purpose outcomes, quality and compliance.
n
Building and maintaining senior client relationships,
leading key pursuits and contributing to proposals, reports and technical assessments.
n
Supporting the growth and development of our team through mentoring, supervision, knowledge sharing and technical training.
n
Liaising with Commonwealth, State and Local Government clients, agencies, internal specialists, sub-consultants and other key stakeholders.
n
Providing visible leadership and technical coaching to uplift capability, support succession and role model GHD's values.

What would you bring to the team?
n
A relevant tertiary qualification in planning or a related discipline, supported by 15+ years' experience in an urban planning environment.
n
Local Victorian and/or Tasmanian experience, ideally gained within a consulting workplace, will be highly regarded, along with a strong track record of contributing to major projects.
n
Strong knowledge of the Victorian and Tasmanian planning systems, including relevant legislative and policy frameworks.
n
Proven client leadership experience, ideally including account growth and work-winning with government and/or major private sector clients.
n
Well-developed commercial, risk management and communication skills, with the ability to make sound, practical technical decisions.
n
A collaborative, client-focused approach, with the credibility to influence outcomes, develop people and build high-performing teams.
n
