Position Information

Melrose Park High School is an exciting new secondary schoollocatedin Melrose Park, scheduled to open in 2027. Commencing initially with Years 7 and 8, the school will grow progressively by adding a year level each year until it becomes a full Years 7 to 12 high school. The school will also include a dedicated Support Unit as an integral part of the school community.

This is a unique opportunity to join the foundation team and play a pivotal role inestablishinga new school from the ground up. Working closely with the Foundation Principal and leadership team, successful applicants will contribute to the development of whole-school systems,



structures,curriculumand teaching practices that will shape the educational experience for students and staff for years to come.

Foundation staff will have the opportunity toestablishstrong professional relationships, contribute to a positive and inclusive school culture, and support the development of innovative approaches that promote student engagement,achievementand wellbeing. Staff will playan important rolein embedding a shared vision and creating a learning environment that reflects the aspirations of the Melrose Park community.

There are also opportunities to contribute to key school priorities, including High Potential and Gifted Education (HPGE), explicit teaching practices, literacy and numeracy development, student voice and agency, and inclusive learning practices.

The successful applicant willdemonstratestrong leadership and organisational skills, initiative, and the ability to work proactively and collaboratively within a dynamic and evolving school environment. Specific Selection Criteria

- 1. Approval to teach special education and/or experience in delivering high-quality educational programs for students with Autism, intellectual disability, emotional disturbance, trauma and complex behavioural or social needs in a Support unit setting.
- 2. Highly developed communication, organisational and interpersonal skills, withdemonstratedcapacity to build andmaintainpositive, collaborative partnerships with students,



parents/carers,colleaguesand external agencies to support student learning, wellbeing,engagementand successful participation in school.
- 3. Demonstratedability to develop,implementand review teaching and learning programs, personalised learning plans, behaviour supportplansand health support plans, including students with complex learning and behaviour needs.
- 4. Capacity toestablishtheinitialclasswithin the support unit by designing, implementingstructures and processes to support evidence-based practice andhigh expectationstoimprovestudents' academic, social, communication, emotional and behavioural outcomes.

Conditions

An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
