About This Opportunity

Ready to make a real impact? As an Advisor, Safer Communities, you’ll play a vital frontline role in supporting safe, respectful and inclusive environments across UQ. Acting as a trusted first point of contact, you’ll respond to disclosures of gender-based violence, behavioural risks and other concerns with empathy and professionalism. You’ll work within a highly team-oriented team to deliver trauma-informed, person-centred support during sensitive and complex situations helping ensure coordinated, timely responses that prioritise safety, wellbeing and dignity for our students and staff.

Key responsibilities will include:

- Deliver student‑centred support using trauma‑informed and culturally responsive approaches that promote wellbeing, safety, and inclusion.
- Coordinate and deliver impactful programs and initiatives that support student welfare, mental health, and harm prevention.
- Provide clear, accurate guidance on support services, pathways, and reporting options to students and stakeholders.
- Apply policies, frameworks, and legislation confidently, tailoring approaches to meet individual and situational needs.
- Manage intake, triage, and case coordination with professionalism, maintaining accurate records and confidentiality.

This role includes the opportunity and expectation to travel to UQ campuses at Dutton Park, Gatton and Herston while being predominantly based at St Lucia.

About You

- A degree in a relevant discipline, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build rapport and work effectively with diverse stakeholders
- Demonstrated judgement in applying policies, procedures and legislation, with the ability to adapt processes to meet outcomes
- Experience coordinating programs, projects or initiatives, including planning, timelines and delivery
- Highly organised, with the ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines in a service‑focused environment
- Strong analytical skills, with the ability to interpret data and support decision‑making
