Production Support Technician – Brisbane

Are you ready to take ownership of critical plant operations in a fast-paced, automated chemical manufacturing environment? This role offers the opportunity to work independently across complex processes, supporting safety, quality and production as you help deliver essential coatings for global markets. Ideal for experienced technicians with strong plant operations experience who are confident working within formal Permit to Work systems, including confined space and working at heights.

$46.07p/h, Day shift position with start times between 5am & 8am Monday to Friday - Weekend Overtime available

What you’ll gain:

Key responsibilities:

- Monitor and operate automated reactor systems from the control room, ensuring smooth and efficient production flow
- Issue, manage, monitor and sign off on Permit to Work documentation, including permits for hot work,



confined space entry and working at heights
- Participate in and oversee safe work practices associated with confined space entry and working at heights, ensuring all required controls are in place
- Conduct basic maintenance, fault diagnosis and servicing to optimise equipment availability
- Load reagents and oversee plant equipment such as pumps, mixers and filters, ensuring they operate efficiently
- Complete accurate batch records, production logs, permits and checklists as part of daily operational compliance
- Conduct risk assessments and ensure appropriate controls are implemented before and during non-routine work
- Maintain high safety standards, ensuring all site procedures, permit requirements and safety protocols are strictly followed
- Conduct quality control testing on finished goods to ensure products meet strict specifications
- Work closely with production, maintenance and other site personnel to safely resolve operational issues and minimise downtime

What you need:

- Proven experience in a plant operator, process technician or production environment
- Experience working within Permit to Work systems, with knowledge of hot work, confined space and working at heights requirements




- Current Confined Space Entry and Working at Heights certifications
- Valid forklift licence
- Strong mechanical aptitude and the ability to perform minor maintenance and fault-finding tasks
- Excellent risk assessment skills with a sharp eye for safety and attention to detail
- Ability to understand and follow detailed safety procedures, permits and isolation requirements
- Ability to work independently while also contributing effectively within a site-based team
- Ability to work flexible hours, including reasonable overtime
- Physical capacity to undertake manual tasks, including lifting up to 20kg

Preferred but not essential:

- Chemical industry experience or experience in a similar process manufacturing environment
- Current gas testing certification
- Experience with hazardous materials handling and dangerous goods
- Mechanical or electrical trade qualification (e.g. Fitter, Electrician, Boilermaker)
- Experience issuing or managing Permit to Work systems
- Willingness to obtain any additional site-specific licences or certifications required

The role involves manual handling, working around high-tech automated reactors and undertaking work in an environment where strict safety procedures are critical. You will need to be comfortable working with Permit to Work systems and safety controls for confined spaces, working at heights and hot work. Hands-on technical skills, sound judgement and a strong safety focus are essential to succeed in this role.
