Position Information

Kingsgrove High School is a comprehensive high school with an Inclusive Education Faculty serving the diverse communities around Kingsgrove. The student enrolment is 700. Students identify as coming from 44 different languages backgrounds, coming from a wide range of socio-economic backgrounds with 1% of students identifying as Aboriginal and 83% from an English as an Additional Language or Dialect (EAL/D) background. Our school is culturally and linguistically diverse.

Our focus is on making learning our number one priority. As identified in the school motto 'let your light shine', we support students striving for personal excellence. Support is given through strong programs in literacy, numeracy, technology in classrooms, enrichment, student welfare, sporting programs and the performing arts.



Students participate in a wide range of learning experiences focusing on the pursuit of academic growth and excellence.

The school currently has three support classes (Inclusive Education) for students with a primary autism diagnosis, expanding to four classes in 2027. Inclusive Education staff work collaboratively to support students across academic, social, emotional and functional domains, with a strong focus on individualised support, wellbeing, communication and successful participation in school and community life. The advertised Inclusive Education Teacher position is due to commence at the start of 2027.

Specific Selection Criteria

- 1. Approval to teach Special Education and/or demonstrated experience teaching students with Autism and other needs including Mild Intellectual Disabilities and Behaviour Difficulties.
- 2. Demonstrated well-developed communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work collaboratively, proactively, and professionally with key stakeholders to create positive learning outcomes for students.
- 3. Demonstrated ability to develop, differentiate and deliver learning programs that support a diverse range of student needs through the use of evidence-based practice, including the planning, implementation and evaluation of individualised learning plans.
- 4.



Demonstrated experience supporting the well-being of students and implementing positive behaviour support strategies to create a positive learning environment that caters for a diverse range of students.

Conditions

An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching chance.
