Position Title: Staff Specialist or Senior Staff Specialist - Director Medical Oncology

About the role

The Staff Specialist or Senior Staff Specialist – Director Medical Oncology is the senior clinical leader for Medical Oncology services across Metro North Health, responsible for setting the strategic direction, clinical standards and professional leadership of the specialty. The role provides executive oversight of service delivery, clinical governance, workforce development, research and innovation, ensuring the delivery of high-quality, patient-centred cancer care across multiple Metro North facilities.

The successful candidate will lead service planning, performance improvement and clinical governance activities while providing expert advice to executive leaders on strategic, clinical and operational matters. The role also drives research excellence, workforce sustainability, service innovation and multidisciplinary collaboration, ensuring Medical Oncology services continue to meet the evolving needs of patients and the broader healthcare system.

About you

Our ideal candidate will be someone who can carry out the following key accountabilities in accordance with the Metro North Health's values:

- Provide strategic and professional leadership for Medical Oncology services across Metro North Health, ensuring excellence in patient care, clinical governance and service performance.
- Lead the development and implementation of innovative service models,



workforce strategies and improvement initiatives that enhance access, quality and patient outcomes.
- Provide expert clinical advice and leadership on complex operational, governance, safety, quality and workforce matters affecting Medical Oncology services.
- Foster a high-performing culture through workforce development, succession planning, mentoring, research leadership and multidisciplinary collaboration.
- Drive clinical research, innovation and evidence-based practice while strengthening partnerships with consumers, universities, research organisations and statewide cancer networks.
