ABOUT THE ROLE

South Gippsland Shire Council currently has a Health, Safety and Wellbeing opportunity within the Culture and Capability Directorate.

Join a team committed to creating a workplace where people can do their best work safely and thrive. This role plays an important part in strengthening Council's health, safety and wellbeing culture through practical support, meaningful relationships and continuous improvement initiatives.

You'll work closely with our Coordinator and Advisor in a collaborative People & Culture Department, supporting a range of health, safety and wellbeing initiatives across the organisation.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to build or further develop their career in Health, Safety and Wellbeing within a supportive and collaborative local government environment.

Health, Safety and Wellbeing Officer:

- Part Time (0.6 FTE) Ongoing Position
- Band 5 - $47,214.65 per annum (pro rata) + 12% Superannuation
- Based at various locations across the Shire





The role includes a range of responsibilities such as:

- Supporting the effective management of incident, injury, hazard and near-miss reporting systems.
- Ensuring incidents are accurately recorded, investigated and corrective actions are tracked through to completion.
- Maintaining and regularly reviewing health, safety and wellbeing documentation, policies, procedures and guidelines.
- Supporting Health and Safety Representatives, Committees and leaders to drive positive safety outcomes across the organisation.
- Collecting, analysing and reporting on health, safety and wellbeing data and trends.
- Supporting risk, compliance and audit activities that strengthen our safety systems.
- Contributing to initiatives that promote a positive safety culture and employee wellbeing.

ABOUT YOU

Health, Safety and Wellbeing Officer

To succeed in this role you will have:

- A genuine passion for health, safety and wellbeing.
- Strong organisational and administrative skills with excellent attention to detail.
- The ability to analyse information, identify trends and support practical improvements.
- Confidence building positive working relationships across all levels of the organisation.
- Excellent communication skills and a customer-focused approach.




- Certificate IV or Diploma in WHS or a related discipline, or equivalent relevant experience.
- Experience supporting health and safety systems, compliance activities or continuous improvement initiatives will be highly regarded.
