Reporting to the Principal Materials and Process Engineer (Team Lead), the Materials and Process Engineer will assist and contribute to the management of materials and processes used at Martin-Baker, in line with customer, regulatory and legal requirements, using the Martin-Baker Quality Management System (QMS).

Key responsibilities include generating technical documents and reports, material reviews and presentations that are required to support the control of materials and processes. You’ll work effectively with internal and external customers to achieve optimum solutions through in-depth engagement with business stakeholders.

The Opportunity

The Materials and Process Engineer will manage and maintain process specifications and material data, including generation of new, amendments to existing,



and cancellation of obsolete data. You’ll continually use and update the material database and provide support to internal/external stakeholders such as customers, vendors, subcontractors and colleagues across the Martin-Baker organisation.

This is a wide-ranging role, you’ll assist with material obsolescence management, hazardous materials, getting involved with investigations relating to materials, processes and testing requirements. You’ll contribute to standardised parts, materials and substances, associated with Martin-Baker as well as source-controlled parts/assemblies and consumables. As the subject matter expert for material review applications (MRA’s), you’ll consult with colleagues and stakeholders, with a high degree placed on scientific advice and interpretation.

This role will be based onsite working from Denham.

What We’re Looking For

- Knowledge of material science and engineering, respective of commonly used materials used within the aerospace industry.
- Knowledge of heat treatment and finishing processes, equipment and materials.
- Understanding of manufacturing/fabrication processes, ideally used in the aerospace industry.
- Experienced with creating engineering documentation and presentations.
- Desirable – knowledge of US military standards and UK defence standards.




- Desirable – understanding of textile properties, testing, manufacturing/weaving and finishing processes.
- Systems knowledge of systems such as SAP, Teamcenter, PLM software, and materials management databases.
- Share and demonstrate the Martin-Baker values.
