Registered Nurse – Scrub Scout | St Andrews War Memorial Hospital
Employment Term: Permanent Part- time and Full -Time Opportunities available
Location: located opposite Roma St Parklands, St Andrew's War Memorial Hospital is just a short walk to Brisbane city
Remuneration: $42.50 - $54.62/ hr + 12% Super + Not for Profit Salary Packaging + Penalties & Allowances

Are you an experienced Scrub Scout looking to work with cutting-edge technology, complex surgical procedures and a diverse range of specialties? At St Andrew's War Memorial Hospital, you'll be part of a high-performing Theatre team delivering exceptional care across 14 operating theatres. Our extensive surgical service covers all major specialties except Obstetrics and Hepatobiliary surgery, providing the opportunity to develop and maintain a broad perioperative skill set. As part of our Theatre team, you'll gain exposure to:
- Opportunity to work with advanced technology including da Vinci, Hugo™ RAS, MAKO SmartRobotics™ and our Hybrid operating theatre
- Cardiac surgery within a highly specialised cardiac service and centre of excellence
- Orthopaedics including joint replacement, sports medicine, complex spinal, upper limb, trauma and revision surgery
- Robotic-assisted surgery using two da Vinci robotic systems and the Hugo™ RAS system
- A state-of-the‑art Hybrid operating theatre supporting complex procedures and advanced imaging
- Urology, General, Colorectal, Gynaecology, Neurosurgery, ENT, Plastics and Vascular surgery
- Advanced surgical navigation, MAKO SmartRobotics™ and contemporary surgical technologies
What Makes a Difference for Us?
- Bachelor of Nursing degree (or equivalent) and current AHPRA registration
- Previous Scrub Scout experience in one or more surgical specialties highly regarded
- Interest in developing skills across a variety of surgical specialties, with support to expand your clinical scope
- Previous experience with robotic‑assisted surgery, cardiac, orthopaedics or surgical navigation systems is highly desirable but not essential
- Commitment to patient safety, quality improvement and delivering exceptional patient‑centred care
- Desire for ongoing professional development and continuous learning
- Robust communication, teamwork and adaptability within a multidisciplinary theatre environment
- Australian working rights (we are unable to offer sponsorship currently)
- Availability to work across AM and PM shifts (no night shifts required) with occasional on‑call commitments
- Willingness to meet vaccination and immunisation requirements in line with hospital infection prevention and control standards
