About The Company
Our client offers a comprehensive range of mechanical repairs and maintenance services. Their fully-equipped workshop in Karratha carries out repairs on everything from trucks and utes to construction and mining machines, and they also offer field services, sending a team member to site to carry out repairs. As their business continues to grow, they're seeking experienced and motivated Heavy Duty Mechanics to join their team.
About The Opportunity
The primary purpose of this position is to carry out servicing, maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs across a diverse range of heavy vehicles, road transport equipment, plant, and machinery. This hands-on role offers a mix of workshop-based work in Port Hedland and site-based work across the Pilbara.
Reporting directly to the Workshop Manager some of your responsibilities will include:
- Carrying out scheduled servicing, preventative maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs on heavy vehicles, transport equipment, plant, and machinery
- Diagnosing and repairing mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and basic electrical faults, including engines, transmissions, braking, suspension, steering, driveline, and hydraulic systems
- Attending site-based breakdowns and carrying out field repairs as required
- Conducting inspections to identify defects before they result in equipment failure
- Completing service reports, job cards, and maintenance documentation accurately
- Working closely with the Workshop Manager, supervisors, and clients to coordinate repairs and maintenance
- Ensuring all work is completed safely and to a high standard, complying with company procedures, client requirements, and site safety standards (including Take 5/JHA and mine-site procedures)
About You
The successful candidate will have:
- Trade qualification as a Heavy Duty Diesel Mechanic, Diesel Fitter, or equivalent
- Experience working with heavy vehicles, road transport equipment, plant, or machinery
- Strong diagnostic and fault-finding skills, with experience on road trains highly regarded
- A current Australian driver's licence (HR or MC advantageous)
- Ability to pass a pre-employment medical and drug and alcohol screening, and to obtain relevant site inductions
