The South Australian Parliament legislates for the peace, order,and good government of the State.
The House of Assembly consists of 47 Members and is the lowerHouse of the State's bi-cameral Parliament. The staffof the Assembly are responsible for:
- The provision of effective, efficient and professionalprocedural and administrative support to the Assembly, itscommittees and individual Members; and
- Effective liaison within Parliament, with Government, itsagencies and the community, to enable Members of Parliament toeffectively discharge their Parliamentary duties.
Support to the Assembly is provided through staff organised intooffices with a client services focus namely:
- Clerk's Office.
- Procedure Office
- Parliamentary Committees Office
- Office of the Serjeant at Arms
- Corporate Services Office
About theRole:
The Senior Administrative Officer is responsible to the Manager,Corporate Services, for the coordination of a range ofadministrative, records management, human resource and financialsupport services that meets the needs and requirements of Members,their staff in the electorate offices, former Members and staff ofthe House of Assembly.
The role supervises a small team that through teamwork andcollaboration strives to deliver service excellence. The incumbentwill be required to undertake minor business improvement and otherproject work.
Due to the political sensitivity of the Assembly and itsoperations, it is imperative that the strictest confidentiality bemaintained within the office.
The incumbents need to be cognisantof the particular relationship between the Parliament and theExecutive (its departments and agencies) and be able to operate inthat environment.

- The appointment is made pursuant to the House of AssemblyEnterprise Agreement and, while the provisions of the PublicSector Act do not apply to this position, public sectorconditions are generally adhered to, and entitlements aretransferable. Probationary period of up to 6 months.
- There may be a requirement to work outside of normalworking hours.
- Any person who is, and is seen to be, active in politicalor electoral affairs and intends to carry on this activity maycompromise the strict political neutrality of this position andcould not be considered for appointment.
- Employees are required to comply with all health, safetyand risk management policies and procedures of the Parliamentand take all reasonable care that any actions or omissions donot impact on the health and safety of others in the Parliamentprecinct.
- Employees must observe the Parliament of South AustraliaCode of Conduct and comply with the Conduct Standards in theCode.
