The Environment Officer plays a key role in the development, reviewing and reporting of the Rottnest Islands Conservation Management Strategies and the implementation of the associated research, monitoring and operational programs. The environment officer is responsible for:
- Development and implementation of conservation programs, which may include the Terrestrial Conservation Action Plan, Marine Conservation Action Plan, Weed management, and five-year revegetation plan
- Providing advice and support to the Manager (Conservation) and other specialist services covering conservation, protection and restoration of the reserves marine and terrestrial workplace to meet statutory and strategic goals
- Coordinating fauna response and management
- Management of Operations Officers, work planning and activities
The Environment Officers are expected to regularly be on-island for 4 days per week.
The successful applicant will be required to possess or obtain a current Working With Children Check and a current and satisfactory National Police Check prior to commencement.
