Position purpose

The Bricklayer forms part of our Clients Development and Infrastructure team and reports directly to the Construction Supervisor. Our client is part of the largest blueberry horticultural group in WA. The position is responsible for completing skilled bricklaying, blockwork, masonry and associated concrete work required for the construction, expansion, alteration, repair and maintenance of infrastructure across the farming group's operations.
The group currently operates approximately 180 hectares of developed farmland and is undertaking staged expansion toward approximately 400 hectares by 2030. The Bricklayer will support this development program and the maintenance of the group's existing infrastructure.

The Bricklayer will provide the hands-on trade capability required to implement construction plans prepared and coordinated by the Development and Infrastructure team.
The position will work alongside the:

- Development and Special Projects Manager;
- Construction Supervisor; and
- Growing Infrastructure Upkeep Supervisor.

Key duties and responsibilities

- Interpret building plans, construction drawings, specifications and work instructions.
- Determine materials, measurements and installation procedures required for brick and block construction.
- Lay, cut and shape bricks, blocks and other masonry units to construct walls, partitions and related structures.
- Check the horizontal and vertical alignment of completed work and complete pointing, jointing and finishing.
- Identify and rectify defects in brick, block and masonry structures.

Foundations and concrete work

- Set out and prepare foundations and footings for masonry structures.
- Prepare base materials and apply damp-resistant materials where required.
- Construct concrete footings,



foundations and slabs associated with brick and block structures.
- Install reinforcement and formwork associated with masonry foundations.
- Ensure foundations and supporting structures comply with approved drawings and specifications.

Agricultural infrastructure projects

- Complete brick and block construction for fertigation stations, pump sheds and utility buildings.
- Construct masonry components of chemical and fertiliser storage and containment facilities.
- Undertake bricklaying work for seasonal-worker accommodation, warehouses, packing facilities and storage buildings.
- Construct retaining structures and masonry associated with drainage, irrigation and growing infrastructure.
- Complete alterations and extensions to existing agricultural buildings and facilities.

Repairs and maintenance

- Inspect existing brick, block and masonry structures for damage or deterioration.
- Repair cracks, mortar joints and damaged brick or block structures.
- Undertake planned and reactive repairs to farm buildings, pump facilities and storage areas.
- Modify masonry structures to accommodate new equipment, irrigation systems or operational requirements.
- Complete defect rectification and finishing work before project handover.

Planning and coordination

- Work under the direction of the Construction Supervisor and in accordance with approved project schedules.
- Estimate the quantities of bricks, blocks, mortar and related materials required.
- Coordinate daily activities with the Development and Infrastructure team and other trades.
- Report material requirements,



construction issues and potential delays to the Construction Supervisor.
- Maintain records of completed work and materials used where required.

Quality and compliance

- Complete all bricklaying and masonry work accurately and to the required standard.
- Follow approved drawings, specifications and manufacturer requirements.
- Check measurements, alignment, levels and finished surfaces throughout construction.
- Report defects, design discrepancies and unsafe conditions to the Construction Supervisor.
- Maintain tools and equipment in secure working condition.

Work health and safety

- Comply with company's work health and safety policies and procedures.
- Complete required site inductions, risk assessments and pre-start checks.
- Use personal protective equipment and follow safe manual-handling procedures.
- Maintain clean and orderly work areas.
- Identify and report hazards, incidents and near misses.

Essential qualifications and experience

- Recognised trade qualification in bricklaying or an equivalent building and construction qualification.
- Practical experience performing skilled bricklaying, blockwork and masonry construction.
- Experience interpreting construction drawings, plans and specifications.
- Experience constructing foundations, footings, retaining walls and associated concrete structures.
- Knowledge of bricklaying methods, materials, tools and construction-site safety requirements.

Desirable experience

- Experience working in agricultural, civil, commercial or infrastructure construction.
- Experience constructing pump facilities, storage buildings or utility structures.
- Experience completing repairs, renovations and structural alterations.
- Current Australian driver's licence or eligibility to obtain one.
- Construction White Card or willingness to obtain one before commencing duties.

Salary: $80,000 to $90,000 per annum, excluding superannuation
