With opportunities available across both a major automotive dealership and a professional independent mechanical workshop, this is a great chance to start your apprenticeship and gain valuable hands-on experience in the automotive industry.
You'll work alongside qualified automotive technicians while completing your AUR30620 Certificate III in Light Vehicle Mechanical Technology, developing the practical skills and knowledge needed to become a qualified Light Vehicle Mechanic.

Dealership & Independent Workshop Opportunities
Depending on the available position and your suitability, you may have the chance to start your apprenticeship within:
- A Major Automotive Dealership – Gain experience working with manufacturer-specific vehicles, servicing procedures, diagnostic technology and repair standards.
- An Independent Mechanical Workshop – Build broad mechanical experience servicing, diagnosing and repairing a variety of vehicle makes and models.
- Professional Workshop Environments – Learn from qualified technicians while using modern tools, equipment and diagnostic technology.

What You'll Be Doing
Your day-to-day responsibilities will vary depending on your host workshop, but you'll learn how to:
- Carry out scheduled vehicle servicing and preventative maintenance.
- Assist with diagnosing mechanical and electrical faults.
- Inspect and repair braking, steering and suspension systems.
- Assist with engine repairs and mechanical component replacement.
- Carry out oil, filter and fluid changes.
- Conduct vehicle inspections, testing and safety checks.
- Use modern diagnostic equipment and workshop technology.
- Safely use hand tools, power tools and specialised automotive equipment.
- Follow manufacturer and workshop repair procedures.
- Maintain a clean, organised and safe workshop environment.
As your skills and confidence develop, you'll progress to more complex servicing, diagnostic and repair work under the guidance of qualified technicians.
About You
We're looking for someone who is genuinely interested in becoming a qualified mechanic and is ready to commit to their apprenticeship.
You'll ideally have
- A genuine passion for automotive mechanics.
- A hands-on and mechanically minded approach.
- A willingness to learn and take direction.
- A strong work ethic and reliable attitude.
- Good attention to detail.
- Practical problem-solving skills.
- The ability to work effectively as part of a workshop team.
- A current driver's licence (P1 or above preferred).
- The ability to reliably travel to your allocated host employer.
No experience? No problem. Previous automotive experience or a Certificate II is not required. Your attitude, reliability and commitment to completing your apprenticeship are what matter.
