Green Light have an exciting opportunity for a high calibre, experienced Natural/ADABAS Developer with strong Natural and ADABAS expertise to join one of our delivery partners. This position involves end‑to‑end consultation from requirements and solution design through to implementation, working closely with internal stakeholders of end customers to successfully deliver capability.

As a Natural/ADABAS Consultant, you will be responsible for analysis, development, testing, and maintenance across Natural and ADABAS environments. You will collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to determine required enhancements to existing Natural applications and ADABAS database structures. You will contribute to the design, build, support, and deployment of solutions and participate across all phases of the IT delivery lifecycle.

Responsibilities:

- Deliver Natural/ADABAS development, enhancement, and maintenance across existing applications and data structures.
- Analyse business and technical requirements and translate them into Natural modules, subprograms, and ADABAS database updates.
- Support, optimise, and troubleshoot ADABAS databases, including file structures, performance tuning, and data integrity management.
- Work with technical teams to ensure effective integration between Natural applications and ADABAS data layers.
- Perform code reviews, unit testing, and assist with systems testing for Natural and ADABAS components.
- Assist in migration, modernisation, and remediation activities within the Natural/ADABAS environment.
- Investigate and resolve production incidents related to Natural batch jobs, online transactions, and ADABAS calls.




- Collaborate with operations, DBAs, and security teams to ensure stable, secure, and compliant operation of Natural/ADABAS systems.

Requirements:

- Minimum 5 years’ experience as a Natural/ADABAS Developer or Consultant.
- Strong technical background in Natural programming, including online and batch development, data access, modular design, and error handling.
- Experienced with ADABAS administration concepts, file definitions, FDT management, performance optimisation, and dataset handling.
- Familiarity with associated mainframe technologies such as JCL, batch processing, and IBM utilities.
- Ability to work across full SDLC phases with a focus on Natural/ADABAS solution delivery in large enterprise environments.
- Solid communication skills with the ability to translate complex technical requirements into clear deliverables.
