Role Description The API Developer will design, build, and maintain secure, reliable APIs that support Esencia - Limpieza con propósito’s digital products and internal tools. This part time remote role involves collaborating with product and engineering teams to understand integration needs, defining API specifications, and implementing scalable solutions.

Daily responsibilities include writing clean, well-documented code, integrating third-party services, troubleshooting and optimizing existing APIs, and ensuring adherence to best practices for performance, security, and reliability. The API Developer will also participate in code reviews, contribute to technical documentation, and support deployment and monitoring of services in production environments.

Qualifications

- Strong proficiency in one or more backend programming languages commonly used for API development (such as JavaScript/TypeScript, Python, Java, or similar) and familiarity with RESTful and/or GraphQL design principles.
- Experience working with modern web frameworks and tools (for example Node.js, Django, Spring Boot, or comparable frameworks)



and integrating with relational or NoSQL databases.
- Knowledge of API security practices, including authentication and authorization (e.g., OAuth, JWT), encryption, and secure data handling.
- Hands-on experience with version control systems (such as Git), collaborative development workflows, and code review processes.
- Ability to work with cloud platforms or containerization tools (for example AWS, Azure, GCP, Docker, or Kubernetes) for deploying and managing services.
- Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to debug and optimize code and queries.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills and the ability to collaborate in a distributed, remote team workplace.
- Relevant education or training in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Experience building integrations for business or operations workflows, especially in service-oriented or social-impact organizations, is beneficial.
