Your Role
As an Army Artillery Soldier, you’ll be part of the close-knit team that operates at the forefront of combat and security operations. You’ll learn to be the eyes and ears of the battlefield, by providing artillery fire, systematic surveillance and target identification- whilst working with advanced equipment and powerful weapons.

The Artillery Soldier pathway will provide you with the skills to advance in one of four roles:
Artillery Observer – Be the eyes and the ears of the battlefield. Use high-tech equipment to locate enemy targets and gather battlespace intelligence.
Artillery Operator – Be part of the team that sets up, aims and fires one of the Army’s most powerful weapons, operating advanced equipment to deliver accurate and effective fire support.
Artillery Command Systems Operator – Use advanced surveillance equipment, to understand the battlefield, identify targets and produce & communicate firing solutions for artillery and other available firepower.
Air Defence Operator –Use radar systems to identify and analyse threats, using surface-to-air missile systems to neutralise and destroy them.

Competitive Salary + Generous Superannuation of 16.4% Starting salary while training: $60,517 per year
Salary after completing training: $86,453 per year
Your salary will continue to increase based on your rank and years of service.
Location
Once you have completed your training, you could be posted to one of the many Army bases and units across Australia. Most of these positions are in North QLD, South QLD, and the NT.
Eligibility For this role, you must:
- Be at least 17 at the time of enlistment, an Australian Citizen, and have completed an Australian Year 10 education (or equivalent) with passes in English and Maths

- Be reasonably fit and healthy
- Be able to successfully obtain a security clearance
