Fairbairn Irrigation Network Limited (FIN) is seeking an experienced Asset & Engineering Professional to join the management team in Emerald, Central Queensland. This is a newly created role offering the chance to have genuine influence on how FIN manages, renews and invests in its infrastructure. You will work across asset management, engineering assurance, infrastructure planning, capital projects and technical due diligence, while acting as FIN's key internal technical adviser when working with engineering consultants, contractors and specialist advisers.
Reporting directly to the General Manager, you will take a lead role in developing and embedding FIN's asset and engineering capability.
Key responsibilities
- Lead implementation and ongoing development of FIN's Strategic Asset Management Plan
- Develop asset condition, criticality and risk assessments
- Establish long-term asset renewal and replacement priorities
- Develop infrastructure investment and lifecycle forecasts
- Provide engineering and technical advice to the General Manager
- Review engineering designs, reports and consultant recommendations
- Act as FIN's technical representative with consultants, contractors and specialist advisers
- Support the planning and delivery of major capital and asset-renewal projects
- Provide technical support to FIN's infrastructure programs
- Work closely with FIN's Operations & Maintenance team to investigate asset issues and improve maintenance and renewal planning
About you
- A degree in Engineering or a related technical discipline
- Experience in asset management, infrastructure planning or engineering
- Experience in asset condition assessment and risk-based renewal planning
- Experience supporting or delivering capital infrastructure projects
- The ability to review and challenge engineering designs and technical recommendations
- Experience working with engineering consultants and contractors
- Strong technical judgement and problem-solving skills
- The ability to explain complex engineering matters in practical, plain-English terms
- Current RPEQ registration in an engineering discipline relevant to FIN's infrastructure is essential
- Chartered status and formal asset-management qualifications would be highly regarded
