Role Description This full-time, on-site Autocad Drafter role is based in Melbourne, VIC.
The Autocad
Drafter will produce and revise detailed technical drawings for power transmission and distribution projects, including layouts, sections, and schematics using CAD software. Day-to-day tasks include interpreting engineering markups, preparing shop and installation drawings, updating drawings based on review comments, and ensuring compliance with relevant industry and company standards. The role involves coordinating with engineers and project managers, organizing drawing files, maintaining accurate documentation,
and supporting design reviews.
The Autocad
Drafter will also assist in quality checks, verify dimensions and specifications, and contribute to the continuous improvement of drafting processes.
Qualifications
- Strong skills in Technical Drawing and general Drawing, with the ability to translate engineering concepts into clear, exact CAD documentation.
- Experience in preparing steel assembly drawings with Inventa or Tekla is preferred but not mandatory.
- Experience in producing construction, fabrication, or installation drawings is preferred.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD (and related CAD tools), including layering, blocks, and standards-based drafting practices.
- Certificate or diploma in drafting, engineering, architecture, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple drawing packages and deadlines.
- Effective communication and collaboration skills for working closely with engineers, designers, and project stakeholders.
- Knowledge of power transmission and distribution layouts or prior experience in the utilities or infrastructure sector is an advantage.
