The Role The Clinical/Forensic Psychologist provides high quality, evidence-based psychological services within the high-secure Forensic Hospital. The position works collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team to enhance the assessment, diagnosis, formulation and treatment of forensic patients and others with serious mental illness and criminal justice system involvement. This role involves multimodal clinical and risk assessment, case formulation and delivery of individual/group intervention for mental health recovery and to address factors associated with risk of reoffending.
Essential Requirements
- Full registration with the Psychology Board of Australia with an accredited Master’s degree (6th year) or higher in clinical or forensic psychology or other relevant endorsed area of psychology (e.g. clinical neuropsychology).
About The Forensic Hospital The Forensic Hospital is unlike anywhere else in NSW Health. As the state's only high-secure forensic mental health hospital, we care for people with serious mental illness whose treatment requires the careful balance of recovery, therapeutic engagement and dynamic risk management. Our patients present with a unique combination of mental illness, trauma,
psychosocial need and behavioural risk. Delivering care in this environment requires sound clinical judgement, strong therapeutic relationships and a multidisciplinary approach that balances recovery with the safety of patients, staff and the broader community.

- A mandatory and comprehensive two-week, full-time orientation is provided for all new staff at Forensic Hospital. All days are paid. The next intake dates will be on 12-23 October and 16-27 November 2026.
