About the role

Mater Private Hospital Gold Coast is seeking a Clinical Nurse to work within our Special Care Nursery team. This position will be employed on a maximum term 12 month contract, 24 hours per week basis. Mater has finalised the strategic acquisition of Healthscope’s Gold Coast Private Hospital, this is a significant milestone in Mater’s commitment to delivering exceptional and compassionate care to Queensland communities.

Based at our Gold Coast Campus, this role will be part of our state-of-the-art 339 bed facility located in Southport. This facility was established in 2016 and offers a wide range of specialities across Emergency, Medical Services, Orthopaedics, Bariatrics, Neurosurgery, Plastics, ENT, General Surgery, Obstetrics, Cardiac Care and Oncology.

Salary range: $57.48 - $61.55 per hour plus superannuation and access to not-for-profit salary packaging up to $15,900 + access to many staff benefits!

What you’ll be doing

As part of our team you will be integral in the progression of evidence-based models of care which are responsive to community needs and assist by providing leadership to promote an setting that is conducive to innovation and change.

The Special Care Nursery (SCN) at Mater Private Hospital Gold Coast is a 9-cot Special Care Unit. The SCN includes, but is not limited to caring for babies born at 32 weeks gestation and birth weight of ≥1500 grams, it comprises of a High Dependency Unit (HDU) The HDU provides care for babies who meet criteria, providing but not limited to:

- Bubble CPAP
- Minimally Invasive Surfactant (MIST)
- Pneumothorax, drain management
- Humidified high flow nasal cannula oxygen
- Low flow oxygen
- Low birth weight ≥ 1500 grams





About you You will be driven by a challenging yet rewarding environment where you can bring your energy and experience to this dynamic team of passionate nurses.

In order to be successful in this position, you will have:

- Current AHPRA registration as a Registered Nurse or Registered Nurse with Midwife Registration
- Currently working or have recent experience in SCN
- Experience with BCPAP, Intubation and Stabilisation
- Post graduate qualification in neonatal nursing or be working towards gaining this qualification
- Excellent interpersonal, communication and clinical problem solving skills
- Have advanced leadership experience, be articulate and motivated
- Provide advanced neonatal nursing care for infants within the Special Care Nursery.
- Advanced neonatal expertise and problem-solving skills within the neonatal service and areas of birth.
- Evidence of commitment to ongoing professional development to maintain a contemporaneous knowledge base
