The Opportunity
This is not just a compliance role; it is a launchpad. As Trades School Australia continues to expand its scope and operations, we are seeking a meticulous and forward-thinking RTO Compliance Officer to safeguard our quality framework. For the right candidate who demonstrates initiative, leadership, and a deep understanding of the VET sector, this position offers a clear and structured pathway to progress into a Senior Compliance or Quality Assurance Leadership role within our management team.
The Role
Reporting directly to the RTO Manager, you will be care for our quality assurance operations. You will be responsible for monitoring, maintaining, and improving our compliance framework to ensure ongoing alignment with the VET Quality Framework and ASQA’s Standards for RTOs. You will work closely with our specialised trades trainers, assessors,
and administrative staff to foster a culture of continuous improvement and regulatory excellence.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct regular internal audits, health checks, and risk assessments across all TSA operations.
- Under the direction of the RTO Manager, maintain, review, and update the RTO’s policies, procedures, and Training and Assessment Strategies (TAS), with a particular focus on construction and trades training packages (e.g., CPC and RII).
- Coordinate and document assessment validation and moderation activities in line with the RTO’s schedule.
- Manage the Continuous Improvement register, ensuring all feedback, complaints, and audit findings are actioned and resolved.
- Ensure all marketing materials, student handbooks, and pre-enrolment information are accurate and compliant.
- Assist with regulatory reporting requirements, including AVETMISS data submission, Quality Indicator reporting, and maintaining the RTO's profile on training.gov.au.
- Provide ongoing compliance support, guidance, and professional development to the training and administration teams.
- Prepare the organisation for potential ASQA audits, managing evidence collection and compliance documentation.
About You
- Proven experience in a compliance or quality assurance role within an RTO environment.
- Comprehensive and up-to-date knowledge of the VET Quality Framework, ASQA standards, and national training packages (experience with trades/construction packages is highly regarded).
- Hold a TAE40116 or TAE40122 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment
- Exceptional attention to detail with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate complex regulatory requirements into practical steps for trades trainers.
- Highly organised, self-motivated, and capable of managing multiple priorities to meet deadlines.
- A strategic mindset with the ambition and capability to step up into a senior leadership position.
