About the Opportunity
We currently have an opportunity for a Consultant (Cost Manager / Quantity Surveyor) to join our growing Brisbane Team.
This role would suit an experienced Quantity Surveyor or Cost Manager, as well as an Engineer looking for a change in career direction and the opportunity to apply their technical and project experience in a cost management and advisory environment. Cost Managers and Engineers with mechanical, electrical or building services (MEP) experience would be particularly well suited to the role.
You’ll work across a diverse range of complex projects while continuing to develop your commercial, estimating and cost management capability.
Our portfolio spans infrastructure across many sectors including energy, data centres and mission critical infrastructure, Olympics venues and supporting infrastructure, water, transport, hospitals, and international projects, giving you the opportunity to contribute to projects locally in Australia and abroad.
With the support and guidance of TBH senior team members, TBH Consultants gain industry recognised experience in cost management.
As our Consultant you’ll be responsible for:
- Delivering end-to-end cost management services, including front end advisory, cost planning and value engineering and project delivery
- Developing feasibility cost plans, undertake benchmarking activities, and support budgeting and financial planning for a diverse range of projects.
- Preparing detailed cost estimates and cost plans, including Class 2,
3 and 4 estimates, while identifying opportunities for value engineering and cost optimisation.
- Supporting procurement activities through the development of procurement strategies, preparation of tender documentation, and evaluation of contractor submissions.
- Contributing to contract administration activities, including contract preparation and assessment of progress claims.
- Monitoring project budgets, forecasts and expenditure, providing accurate cost reporting and commercial insights to project teams and clients.
- Assessing and managing project variations, ensuring cost impacts are understood and effectively controlled.
- Assisting with final account management, including close-out activities, final account negotiations and life cycle cost assessments.
- Supporting the implementation and continuous improvement of cost control frameworks, systems and reporting processes.
- Analysing project cost data to identify trends, risks and opportunities, helping clients achieve successful project outcomes.
What you’ll bring
As our successful candidate you'll bring:
- Relevant Bachelor’s degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, Engineering, or equivalent.
- 3+ years’ post-graduate experience in quantity surveying, cost management, engineering, project delivery, or a related construction/infrastructure role.
- Experience in contract administration and change management.
- Demonstrated exposure to cost planning, estimating, and cost control.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
- Proficiency in tools such as CostX, Power BI, and Microsoft Office.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to support report preparation
- Ability to manage competing priorities and work in a collaborative environment
- Professional, reliable and client-focused attitude
- Progress towards MRICS or AIQS membership (desirable but not essential).
