Cyber Security Engineer – Cyber Uplift

9-Month Contract | Brisbane - Hybrid

Potential 12-Month Extension

Up to $110ph + super

We’re looking for an experienced Cyber Security Engineer to join a well-established public sector organisation delivering a program of critical cyber security uplift initiatives.

This is a hands-on technical role with responsibility for delivering security improvements across a complex ICT workplace, with a strong focus on Microsoft Sentinel, Multi-Factor Authentication and Essential 8 maturity uplift . You’ll work closely with cyber security, infrastructure and project teams to design and implement technical solutions, improve security controls and support broader security uplift activities across both cloud and on-premise environments.

What you’ll be working on

- Discovery and implementation of MFA across legacy applications and systems
- Redesigning and optimising existing Microsoft Sentinel / SIEM capability
- Expanding security logging across systems and services
- Supporting Essential 8 maturity uplift
- Developing technical designs, configurations and implementation documentation
- Security-related infrastructure and platform improvements across Microsoft 365, Azure,



Active Directory and Group Policy
- Supporting business continuity, high availability and backup uplift activities
- Coordinating with technical teams and stakeholders to drive activities through to completion
- Identifying technical risks, gaps and issues and recommending appropriate remediation strategies.

About you You’ll be an experienced Cyber Security Engineer with strong hands-on technical delivery experience within a complex enterprise ICT environment.

Ideally, you’ll bring experience across:

- Microsoft Sentinel / SIEM
- Multi-Factor Authentication
- Essential 8
- Microsoft Azure and Microsoft 365
- Active Directory and Group Policy
- Microsoft security technologies
- Hybrid cloud and on-premise environments
- Windows environments
- Security architecture, technical design and documentation
- Working across multidisciplinary infrastructure, cyber and project teams
- Experience working within ISO 27001 or government information security frameworks would also be highly
