This is a diverse Dental Assistant position working across Chermside, North Lakes and Brisbane City hospital/theatre locations. The position averages approximately 32 hours per week across a 4-week rotating roster and includes a combination of clinical Dental Assisting, sterilisation duties and General Anaesthetic theatre lists. As clinical and theatre schedules vary across the roster, hours and days of work may differ from week to week within the 4-week rotation.
No evenings. No weekends. Hospital/theatre lists require early starts, including 7:30am in Brisbane City.
Key responsibilities
- Chairside assisting for specialist paediatric dental procedures
- Assisting during General Anaesthetic dental theatre lists
- Clinical preparation and surgery set-up
- Instrument processing and sterilisation
- Maintaining high standards of infection prevention and control
- Surgery turnover, restocking and maintaining clinical areas
- Preparing and maintaining clinical and theatre equipment
- Stock management
- Supporting children and their families throughout their dental experience
- Working closely with specialist dentists, OHTs, DAs, hospitals and wider practice team
About you
- Minimum of 5 years' recent Dental Assisting experience
- Certificate III in Dental Assisting or equivalent recognised qualification
- Strong and current chairside Dental Assisting skills
- Excellent sterilisation and infection-control knowledge
- Ability and willingness to work across Chermside, North Lakes and Brisbane City
- Availability for early theatre starts, including 7:30am in Brisbane City
- Current Australian driver's licence
- Own reliable vehicle to travel between practice and hospital locations
- Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills
- Strong time-management skills
- Ability to anticipate the needs of the clinician and clinical team
- Confidence using initiative and working without the need for constant direction
- Ability to work efficiently and confidently in a busy clinical environment
- Reliable, flexible and team-focused approach
- Confidence working with children and families, including children who may be anxious or have additional needs
- Willingness to participate fully in sterilisation, stock management, room turnover and clinical preparation
- Current First Aid and CPR
