Contract:
Full-time or part-time (remote)
Reports to:
CEO/Owner
Salary:
Negotiable The Role
You will run Aman Tex's overseas front office as our senior-most commercial voice in Japan - the person who owns the market, not a territory seat. You will hold relationships at premium retailers, work shoulder-to-shoulder with our Head of Creative Design on developments that win, and sit with the Owner/CEO on scaling Aman Tex from USD 100M to USD 300M within five years.
Key Responsibilities
- Own the Japanese market: strategy, target accounts, and revenue delivery
- Open and deepen relationships with sourcing managers, sourcing directors, and C-suite contacts at tier-1 and premium retailers
- Convert relationships into multi-season programmes, not one-off orders
- Brief and co-drive the design team on collections and developments aimed at named accounts
- Negotiate commercial terms (MOQs, pricing, lead times) and close current business
- Represent Aman Tex at trade shows, buyer offices, and industry events
- Report to the Owner/CEO on pipeline, market intelligence, and growth strategy
What We're Looking For
- 10-15+ years of experience within the apparel industry specifically; candidates from adjacent industries will not be considered
- Experience in an equivalent role at a buying office or brand liaison office
- Live, personal relationships with sourcing contacts at premium Japanese retailers (e.g. Quick Retailing/Uniqlo, Beams, ADASTRIA, United Arrows)
- A proven record of converting those relationships into sustained order books
- Willingness to travel regularly across Japan
- Willingness to travel to Bangladesh approximately every 2-3 months to present collections and corroborate development
- Fluent English and business-level Japanese
- Based in Japan
What We Offer
- Salary & other advantages for full time role and base salary + sales commission for part-time role. Type of engagement to be determined based on discussion.
- Airfare, hotel, and ground transport covered where travel is required
- Direct access to a portfolio of tier-1 global fashion clients
- A seat beside the Owner/CEO on the USD 300M growth plan
- Full backing of an in-house design and R&D; team
