Disability Support Workers - casual positions available

Peckys Disability Services (Peckys) has been operating in the local Blacktown area since 1981, providing quality support and services including day programs, accommodation support and weekend recreation services for more than 200 participants.

We currently have an exciting opportunity for dedicated and caring Disability Support Workers to join our programs on a casual basis in the Blacktown area.

The successful applicants will join a specialised supportive team providing active care to participants, focusing on a mixture of personal care, in-house activities and community access.

Responsibilities include:

- Providing direct support to people with a disability including personal care and medication management;
- Application of Participant plans ie; behaviour support, epilepsy management, etc.;
- Accurate data collection in all areas of community participation;
- Maintaining and monitoring a participant’s person-centered support plan.

Essential Selection Criteria:





- Minimum 2 years’ experience working in a busy day program environment is essential
- Demonstrated experience working with people with challenging behaviours
- Ability to support participants in community engagement and skill development.
- Ability to work within a team environment as well as ability to work independently with a participant one to one.
- Current NSW Driver's License.
- Confidence in driving a Hi-Ace van
- 1st Aid certificate or willingness to obtain within 1 month of start date
- NDIS Screening check, or a willingness to obtain prior to work commencement
- Confirmed COVID-19 vaccination

Desirable Criteria:

- Relevant industry and/or tertiary qualification e.g. Certificate 3 or 4 in Disabilities
- Strong communication skills
- Strong computer skills
