Diocese of Lismore Early Education and Care (DLEEC) is seeking a capable and service-focused Finance and Employment Services Officer to support sound financial management and a positive employee experience. This varied role combines financial accounting responsibilities with payroll and employment services support across our early education and care operations.

About the role

Reporting to the General Manager, you will maintain accurate financial and workforce information, support compliant accounting and payroll processes, and provide practical guidance to employees, managers and budget owners. You will work closely with internal and external stakeholders to strengthen controls, improve service delivery and support informed decision-making.

Key responsibilities

- Maintain the integrity of the general ledger and subledgers and support accurate month-end and year-end reporting.
- Prepare journals, reconciliations, treasury reporting, variance analysis and other financial information.
- Monitor compliance with accounting standards, legislation, policies and internal controls.
- Respond to payroll and employment-related enquiries and provide clear guidance to employees and managers.
- Maintain accurate workforce and payroll records and coordinate effective onboarding and offboarding.
- Monitor mandatory employment check and contribute to continuous improvement across finance and employment services.

About you You will bring relevant qualifications in accounting, finance, business, human resources or a related discipline,



together with strong financial accounting experience and practical knowledge of payroll or employment services. You will have strong analytical and organisational skills, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to interpret legislation, industrial instruments, policies and procedures accurately and consistently.

Experience with accounting and workforce systems such as TechnologyOne or SAP, advanced Microsoft Excel skills, and proficiency in Microsoft 365, Google Workspace and childcare management systems will be highly regarded. You will also demonstrate respect for and commitment to the mission, ethos and teachings of the Catholic Church.
