Your Role

Every Army vehicle from 4WDs to tanks and helicopters needs fuel, oil and lubricants in the right quantity, at optimum quality, and in the right place. As a Fuel Specialist in the Army you’ll be in charge of managing, distributing and storing fuel products, as well as the refuelling itself. You’ll manage every Army vehicle that needs fuel, oil and lubricants including 4WDs, tanks and helicopters.

Working as part of a close team, you’ll operate petrol, oils and lubricants equipment, conduct laboratory testing and analysis to keep the Army’s vehicles fuelled and operational.

You’ll work on military bases, on exercises and on deployments, so the job could take you across Australia and even overseas.

Common Duties

- Assist in the management of a fuel facility

- Refuel aircraft and vehicles
- Operate vehicles including forklifts and fuel trucks
- Assist in the laboratory testing of fuel
- Account for fuel as a supply item
- Participate in Marine Transfer Operations
- General soldiering duties, such as manning defensive positions, patrolling, traffic control, camouflaging of vehicles and field equipment, and navigation

Market-competitive salary + Generous Superannuation of 16.4% Starting salary while training: $60,517 per year

Salary after completing training: $86,453 per year

Your salary will continue to increase based on your rank and years of service.

Location

Once you have completed your training, you could be posted to one of the many Army bases and units across Australia. Most of these positions are in North QLD, South QLD, and the NT.

Eligibility For this role, you must:

- Be at least 17 at the time of enlistment, an Australian Citizen, and have completed an Australian Year 10 education (or equivalent) with passes in English and Maths

- Hold a provisional or full Australian state or territory driver’s licence
- Be reasonably fit and healthy
- Be able to have your background checked.
