Niche Logistics is looking for a reliable and physically fit Furniture Loader/ Yard Hand to join our team in Altona on a full time basis.

This is a hands on role based in our Altona yard, primarily working with inbound and outbound flat pack furniture freight of various sizes. You will be responsible for unloading incoming freight from rail containers and supplier vehicles, checking and preparing orders, and loading freight into containers for distribution via rail or sea.

You will also assist with the loading and unloading of PUD trucks as required.

The Role

Your duties will include:

- Loading and unloading containers containing flat pack furniture
- Receiving inbound furniture freight from suppliers, rail containers and supplier vehicles
- Loading outbound freight into containers for transport via rail or sea
- Loading and unloading PUD trucks as required
- Cubing and measuring freight
- Checking orders against paperwork and transport documentation
- Ensuring freight is correctly identified, handled and positioned
- Assisting with general yard duties
- Maintaining a safe,



clean and organised work area

About You

We are looking for someone who:
- Is physically fit and comfortable with repetitive manual handling
- Is reliable, punctual and has a strong work ethic
- Can safely handle furniture freight of varying sizes
- Has good attention to detail when checking orders and paperwork
- Is comfortable working in a busy transport and logistics yard
- Works well as part of a team
- Understands the importance of safe manual handling and workplace safety

Previous experience in transport, warehousing, removals, container unloading/loading or furniture handling would be highly regarded.
