Position Information
The NSW Department of Education provides, funds and regulates education services for NSW students from early childhood to secondary school, delivering world-class education through its public schools and providing funding support to non-government schools. We employ, develop and support teachers, leaders and other staff to deliver the best outcomes for students and to advance the wellbeing of Aboriginal people.
About the Role
This role is vital to the maintenance and upkeep of departmental schools.
To be successful in the role you will need to have good planning and prioritising skills and good communication skills to work effectively with others.
You will perform a range of tasks relating to the routine maintenance and upkeep of a Departmental School/grounds. The role may assist with the set up and removal of furniture and equipment for school activities. You will identify and report maintenance and safety issues. You will receive, store and distribute supplies and monitor equipment and report faults.

Additional Information
Dareton PS is located in the Far Southwestern corner of NSW in the Sunraysia region, 30 kms from the regional Victorian hub of Mildura. The school community takes outstanding pride in our beautiful grounds which features many garden beds, murals and other features. The successful candidate will be expected to work efficiently, completing tasks quickly but to a high standard, take pride in their role of maintaining and nurturing our current school grounds, as well as working closely with the principal to complete additional plans for the improvement of the school's grounds.
They will also need to ensure the General Assistant shed is maintained in an orderly manner in line with current WHS standards.
- Hours of operation are 7am until 3pm which includes a 30-minute unpaid lunch break.
- 3 days per fortnight which will be realised as 2 days in week 1 and 1 day in week 2 of the fortnightly pay period.
- Whilst not mandatory, applicants with proven ability in carpentry, building skills, gardening and maintenance of garden equipment (including mowers and brush cutters) will be highly considered.
