About the role The General Manager Corporate Affairs & Advocacy holds overarching responsibility for RACT's Corporate Affairs, Strategic Communications, Stakeholder Relations and Engagement, Community and Advocacy functions, providing strategic leadership and ensuring these functions operate as an integrated portfolio aligned to RACT's strategy, purpose, values and organisational priorities. This role will develop, lead and maintain the strategies, frameworks, governance and measures across the portfolio, ensuring a coordinated, contemporary and evidence-led approach to RACT's reputation, communications, relationships, influence and community impact.

Key responsibilities

- Lead RACT's Corporate Affairs and Strategic Communications strategy and function, including corporate positioning, reputation management, media relations, proactive communications and issues management.
- Lead RACT's stakeholder relations and engagement approach, including development and implementation of an enterprise stakeholder engagement framework aligned with contemporary best practice.
- Build and support strategic relationships with government, industry, business, community and other priority stakeholders.
- Lead RACT's advocacy strategy and program, establishing priorities and delivering evidence-led advocacy, policy positioning and engagement to achieve outcomes for RACT members and the Tasmanian community.
- Support RACT's government engagement, ensuring it is strategic, coordinated, non-partisan and aligned with agreed advocacy and organisational priorities.




- Lead RACT's community portfolio, including community partnerships and programs, with appropriate frameworks and governance to ensure strategic alignment, impact and value.
- Provide strategic oversight of RACT's schools program and other community-facing initiatives, ensuring alignment with RACT's broader community strategy and measurable outcomes.
- Act as a senior adviser to the CSO and CEO on corporate affairs, reputation, communications, stakeholder relations, advocacy, community matters and emerging external risks and opportunities.
- Lead and develop a high-performing multidisciplinary team, with clear accountabilities, robust capability and an enterprise mindset.
- Establish and report against appropriate measures of performance, influence, reputation, engagement and community impact, supporting continuous improvement across the portfolio.

About you

- Tertiary qualification in Marketing, Media or Communication or demonstrable relevant experience in a similar role.
- At least 10 years senior management experience and at least five years of Advocacy and/or PR.
- Strategic policy expertise; understand complex regulatory environments, navigate political processes, and translate policy developments into actionable advocacy strategies.
- Government relations expertise, political acumen, regulatory compliance knowledge, and crisis management capabilities.
- Exceptional relationship-building capabilities across diverse stakeholder groups.
- Proven experience in integrating cross-functional perspectives,



converting strategic intent into operational requirements and managing the achievement of work outcomes through multiple layers of complexity.
- Strong stakeholder and engagement skills with proven experience in building trust and strong working relationships with people of influence within the Government sector.
- Ability to identify opportunities for change and lead the organisation to execute pathways forward.
- Deep experience in advocacy strategy and development, focusing on the creation of member value aligned with organisational purpose.
