The role
Reporting to the Manager, People and Culture, the Work Health Safety and Injury Management Officer administers and advises on the Society's work health and safety, injury management and workers compensation functions. The role supports and educates managers and workers to embed safe work practices into everyday operations and meet legislative and organisational compliance requirements.
This is a varied and hands-on role requiring strong organisational skills, attention to detail and sound judgement in a busy and diverse environment.
Key responsibilities (overview)
- Coordinate WHS, injury management and workers compensation administration, systems, records and reporting.
- Guide incident, injury and hazard reporting processes, including investigation support, corrective action monitoring and regulatory reporting requirements.
- Support workplace inspections, audits, risk assessments and continuous improvement of WHS systems and practices.
- Provide practical advice, guidance and support to managers and workers on WHS, injury management and legislative compliance requirements.
- Coordinate WHS consultation, training and communication activities that help build safe and compliant workplaces.
About you
You are organised, detail-oriented and confident working across WHS, workers compensation, injury management, compliance or a similar administrative environment. You are comfortable managing competing priorities, maintaining accurate records and building positive relationships with a range of stakeholders.
Known for your skilled communication style, sound judgement and ability to handle sensitive information with discretion, you provide practical support that contributes to safe,
compliant and people-focused outcomes. You will also have a strong personal alignment to the values of Vinnies.
Requirements
- Current working rights in Australia
- Current unrestricted driver's licence
- Willingness to undergo a national police check
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Working with Vulnerable People (WWVP) registration
