Facilities Services Officer – Casual
If you’ve spent a few years working in hospitality, events or venues and you’re looking for something a little different, this could be a great next move.
Glen Eira City Council is looking for experienced, reliable and people-focused casual Facilities Services Officers to join our Venue Experience team.
Think of the role as a mix of venue operations, events, customer service and hands-on problem solving.
You’ll work across Glen Eira Town Hall and other Council-managed venues, helping make sure spaces are set up, looking outstanding and ready for the people using them.
On any given shift you might be setting up an event space, moving furniture, assisting a hirer, checking AV equipment, preparing a meeting room, completing venue inspections or troubleshooting something that hasn’t quite gone to plan.
We’d particularly love to hear from people with backgrounds in hospitality, hotels, events, functions, venues or guest services. If you’re used to busy environments, know how to read a room, can think on your feet and understand what good service looks like, a lot of your skills will transfer straight across.
What you’ll be doing

Setting up and packing down meetings, functions and events
Moving and arranging furniture and equipment
Assisting with basic AV and event equipment
Welcoming hirers and being a key point of contact while they’re onsite
Completing venue checks and making sure spaces are clean, safe and presentation-ready




Troubleshooting issues and finding practical solutions
Working both independently and alongside the wider Venue Experience team
Supporting events across weekdays, evenings and weekends

Who we’re looking for
You don’t necessarily need Council experience.
We’re looking for someone who is reliable, switched-on and comfortable taking responsibility for a space. You’ll be happy getting stuck into physical work, but equally confident speaking with customers, contractors and Council staff.
You’ll suit the team if you’re someone who notices what needs doing without always needing to be asked, manages your time well and takes pride in leaving a venue better than you found it.
A background in hospitality or events will be highly regarded.
Casual rate: $47.40 per hour including 25% casual loading + 12% super.
Shifts vary across mornings, afternoons, evenings and weekends.
A current Victorian Driver Licence is required.
