About the role

As an Environment Assessment Officer at Yarra Ranges Council, you will work within the Biodiversity team full of passionate colleagues delivering conservation focussed programs for the municipality. The role will focus on supporting the Statutory Planning Department with planning application referrals that propose impacts on environmental values and natural assets. You will provide technical advice to as it relates to environmental legislation, in particular the state Native Vegetation Regulations.

This is a part-time, temporary position (parental leave backfill) for 15.2 hours (2 days) per week over 12 months.

This is a Band 6 role with an hourly rate between $49.81 and $54.29 per hour, plus superannuation.

Experience and skills we’re looking for

- Experience with working in a small team environment and application of the state planning scheme and/or native vegetation regulations




- The ability to convey technical information to a variety of stakeholders and work collaboratively on complex matters, within and across teams
- Diploma/degree or tertiary qualification in Natural Resource Management, Statutory/Strategic Planning, Environmental Management or related field. Related fields of work experience will be considered in lieu of formal qualifications
- Excellent organisational and interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate confidently with diverse customers.
