Technical Support Officer – Manufacturing

- Monday to Friday 8.00am-4.00pm
- Graduate Engineer placement – Production and/or Manufacturing background
- $40-$42 per hour casual rate
- Smithfield location
- 6 month minimum placement with the potential for ongoing permanency
- Energetic and agile team

Our client is seeking a Technical Support Officer to provide practical technical and administrative support, take ownership of routine activities, and reduce day-to-day maintenance, inventory control and supplier coordination. The ideal candidate will be a practical, mechanically capable person who can support maintenance, take ownership of key preventative maintenance activities and independently manage routine technical, contractor and administrative follow-up to support the daily operation of the business.

Roles and Responsibilities:

- Current forklift licence with the ability to operate a forklift safely and confidently.
- Positive mechanical understanding and ability to understand how machinery and mechanical components function.
- Ability to use IFS or a similar Computerised Maintenance Management System
- Good understanding of preventative maintenance principles and ability to take ownership of assigned PM
programs and improvement initiatives
- Good practical, hands-on ability and willingness to actively assist maintenance personnel with repairs, servicing, component replacement and other equipment-related tasks.
- Ability to manage maintenance stock, spare parts and inventory effectively.




- Ability to approach equipment problems logically and
systematically.
- Ability to produce and modify basic CAD drawings for mechanical components, fabrication work and equipment modifications.
- Ability to identify and analyse components that are critical to plant operation
- Ability to communicate professionally and effectively with suppliers and service providers
- Ability to understand cost control and complete maintenance or project activities within an agreed budget.
- Ability to coordinate and schedule contractors and ensure site safety and compliance requirements are
completed before work begins

Required Skills/Qualification

- Tertiary degree in Mechanical or Mechatronic Engineering
- At least 2 years experience in production industry
- Forklift license preferred but not essential
- Stock and inventory management experience
- CAD drawing production
