About the role
We’re seeking an experienced Group Financial Controller to lead financial control, statutory and management reporting, compliance across all jurisdictions, audit coordination, and day-to-day finance operations for CPT Global, a publicly listed global IT consultancy headquartered in Melbourne.
Reporting to the CEO, Executive Director, and Board on all key financial metrics, financial issues, accounting operations, statutory and management reporting, compliance, audit, internal controls, and finance team priorities across each region, this hands-on role oversees a small finance team and ensures accurate, timely, and compliant financial outcomes across multiple entities and jurisdictions.
This role is ideal for a technically strong, commercially minded finance leader who can operate with a high degree of autonomy, manage competing priorities, maintain robust internal controls, drive process improvements, and provide clear financial analysis and decision support to senior stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee day-to-day accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll-related processes, timesheet management, month-end close, and maintenance of accurate financial records
- Lead monthly, half-year, and full-year financial reporting, including consolidation for group entities, management accounts, board packs, project and margin reporting, forecasts, variance analysis, and commentary
- Ensure compliance with relevant accounting standards, statutory reporting obligations, tax requirements, regulatory obligations, and ISO programs across operating jurisdictions
- Support cash flow, liquidity, working capital utilisation, treasury oversight,
and proactive forecasting as part of the broader financial control and operational finance remit
- Coordinate annual and half-year external audits, including audit schedules, information requests, issue resolution, and implementation of audit recommendations
- Maintain and improve internal controls, finance policies, procedures, risk management practices, and process improvement initiatives to safeguard company assets and improve efficiency
- Support group insurance renewal and management, and remain up to date with accounting standards and regulatory changes
- Supervise, support, and develop a small finance team, ensuring day-to-day deliverables are completed efficiently, the team is appropriately skilled and trained, and coverage is maintained through cross-skilling while preserving segregation of duties
- Provide additional Financial Accountant support as required during finance team transitions, including payroll tax calculations and lodgements, BAS and PAYG lodgement and payment, PAYGW reconciliations, month-end journals, GST sweep, AMEX reporting, and reconciliations, with scope reviewed regularly with the CEO/Executive Director
About You
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Commerce, or Business preferred
- CPA, CA, or ICA qualification essential
- Minimum five years’ experience in a financial control or group accounting role, ideally in a multi-entity and international listed environment
- Experience in a multi-entity and international listed environment highly regarded
- Strong technical accounting capability with up-to-date knowledge of relevant standards and demonstrated experience in statutory reporting, tax compliance, audit coordination, and management reporting
- Experience in a small business, SME listed environment, or IT services sector preferred
- Familiarity with financial systems and reporting tools; Sage Intacct and Tableau experience highly regarded
- Outstanding attention to detail, strong analytical skills, high integrity, and the ability to work autonomously across competing priorities
- Leadership capability and the ability to collaborate effectively across global time zones
- Ability to work on-site four days per week, with flexibility to be available up to five days per week as business needs require.
