Growth & Relationships ManagerSydney | Full-time | Competitive salary + super + commission
We’re looking for someone to join Nardo across growth, sales and relationships.
On paper, the role is Growth & Relationships Manager.
In reality, we’re looking for someone who wants to get right amongst what we’re building.
Someone commercially minded, naturally good with people and hungry to build something. Someone who can open a conversation, build a relationship, spot an opportunity and have the drive to see it all the way through.
A bit of an all rounder. A go getter.
We’re looking for someone who’s reached the point in their career where they know what they’re capable of, but haven’t necessarily been given the room to show it yet.
Because that’s exactly what this role will offer.
About NardoNardo sits somewhere between a sports apparel company, a creative business and a technology platform.
We’re building an entirely new way for sporting clubs to design, procure and manage their apparel programs, combining great product and design with proprietary technology we’ve built specifically for grassroots and semi-professional sport.
Over the past two years, we’ve been quietly building the foundations.
We’ve worked with some of Australia’s most recognised football clubs, built a growing network of clubs and partners internationally, raised capital from some incredible people and started establishing Nardo across Australia, the US, Canada, the UK and Middle East.
Now we’re entering a different stage.
Our technology is coming to market.
Nardo Studio, the first iteration of our platform, is rolling out to clubs.
Our club network is growing.
New partnerships and opportunities are opening up both here and internationally.
And we’re starting to build the commercial team that can take Nardo into its next chapter.
That’s where you come in.
The roleAt its core, your job is pretty simple:
Help Nardo grow, and make sure the people we work with love working with us.
You’ll work across new business, account management, partnerships and general commercial growth.
You’ll help own new opportunities as they enter the business, whether that’s a club discovering Nardo through our platform, an introduction from one of our partners, an inbound enquiry or a relationship we’ve been building ourselves.
You’ll get on calls, attend meetings, prepare proposals, follow up opportunities, negotiate deals and move conversations through to becoming Nardo clients.
You’ll also be expected to create opportunities yourself.
Finding clubs we should be working with. Opening conversations. Building relationships with leagues and associations. Looking at a market and thinking about how Nardo can get into it.
Ultimately, this is a commercial role.
You’ll have targets. You’ll be responsible for generating revenue. And you’ll share in the upside through commission when you do.
But getting the deal done is only one part of it.
You’ll also build genuine relationships with the clubs we work with.
You’ll understand their programs, their people and where they want to go. You’ll work alongside our design,
production and operations teams to keep things moving and make sure we’re delivering the level of experience we expect from Nardo.
And you’ll constantly be looking for where the relationship can go next.
More teams. More products. New programs. Introductions. Partnerships.
You’ll be encouraged to think commercially rather than simply manage what’s sitting in front of you.
What the day-to-day might look likeThere probably won’t be a completely normal day.
You might start the morning working through new clubs that have come through Nardo Studio.
Jump into a meeting with the president of an NPL club.
Work with our creative team to pull together a proposal for a new opportunity.
Call a handful of clubs we’ve been wanting to speak to.
Check in with an existing client about their next collection.
Sit down with the founders to map out how we approach a new league, association or market.
Help us prepare for an event or activation.
Then finish the day working through the pipeline and making sure nothing has gone missing.
We’re a growing business, and that means occasionally getting involved in things that don’t fit neatly underneath a job title.
We actually like that.
We’re looking for someone who sees an opportunity or a problem and naturally wants to get involved.
Who we’re looking forWe’re not overly concerned with finding someone who has done this exact job before.
But we are looking for someone who’s already proven they can operate commercially, manage relationships and take ownership.
You might have three, four or five years behind you in sales, account management, partnerships, an agency, sport, media, events or another growing business.
The exact job title or career path isn’t particularly significant to us. The person is.
You might already be doing well where you are, but feel like you’ve got another gear that your current environment isn’t allowing you to use.
That’s probably the sweet spot.
What is important is that you already understand football (soccer)
We don’t necessarily mean you need to have spent your entire career working inside the game, but you do need to understand the landscape we operate in and be able to speak its language.
You should have some level of experience working in, around or closely alongside football, whether that’s through clubs, associations, leagues, governing bodies, agencies, brands, suppliers, partnerships or the broader football industry.
You should understand how the different layers of the game connect. How grassroots clubs operate. The role associations and governing bodies play. The difference between community, semi-professional and professional environments. And importantly, some of the realities of the people actually running these organisations.
We’re building Nardo specifically for this world,
and we don’t want to spend the first six months teaching someone how the football ecosystem works.
You’ll need to be a strong communicator and comfortable building relationships with all kinds of people.
One minute that might be the volunteer running a grassroots football club.
The next it could be the CEO of an association, an investor, a partner or someone on the other side of the world.
We want someone who can navigate both.
You’ll be organised. You’ll follow through. You’ll have good attention to detail and enough commercial instinct to understand what makes an opportunity worth pursuing.
You’ll be comfortable picking up the phone.
You’ll know how to write a proper email.
You’ll be able to walk into a room and build rapport.
You’ll be curious enough to ask good questions.
And you’ll have enough initiative that when something lands in front of you, your first instinct is to work out how to move it forward.
Ultimately, we’re looking for someone who understands football, but also understands people, brands and culture beyond it.
That combination is important to us..
What you’ll getThis is a role with room.
Room to take ownership. Room to make decisions. Room to bring ideas into the business. And room to become considerably more important to Nardo as we grow.
You’ll work directly with the founders and across almost every part of the company.
You’ll see how deals come together, how partnerships are built, how products go from an idea to market and how a young Australian company expands internationally.
More importantly, you’ll have the opportunity to actually contribute to those things.
We’re not hiring someone to sit on the edge of the business and execute a list of tasks.
We want someone in the middle of it.
Someone who can take ownership of relationships and commercial opportunities now, and over time take on considerably more.
That could mean larger accounts.
Bigger partnerships.
New markets.
Building a team around you.
We’re hiring a Growth & Relationships Manager today, but we’re looking for someone who has the potential to become a significant part of Nardo’s commercial leadership as the business grows.
Where it goes from there will largely depend on you.
The packageCompetitive salary + super + commission
We want the commission component to properly reward performance.
If you’re helping bring new business through the door, growing the relationships we already have and contributing directly to Nardo’s growth, we want you sharing in that upside.
We’re ambitious about where we’re taking Nardo.
We’re looking for someone who’s ambitious about where they’re taking themselves too.
If that sounds like you, we’d love to hear from you.
