Ambrose® is a not-for-profit social enterprise providing Early Years Learning and School Age Care services. With a team of 550 employees and growing, we currently operate over 50 school age care and early years education services across Catholic schools in the Greater Western Sydney and the Blue Mountains region.

Reporting to the Chief People Officer, the WHS Advisor plays a key role in driving workplace health, safety and wellbeing across the organisation. You will lead initiatives that strengthen compliance, improve processes, promote best practice and foster a positive safety culture. As Return to Work (RTW) Coordinator you will support employees recovering from illness or injury, facilitating safe and sustainable return-to-work outcomes while partnering with leaders, employees and external stakeholders to achieve positive wellbeing and organisational outcomes.

As an WHS Advisor, you’ll play five key roles:

- WHS Systems & Compliance - Refine, implement, and maintain the WHS management system, ensuring compliance with legislative requirements and delivering on consultation commitments.
- Safety Training & Awareness - Champion workplace health and safety initiatives by developing and delivering training programs that align with organisational objectives.
- Risk Management & Continuous Improvement - Develop, monitor, and review WHS policies, procedures, and practices to promote best practice, ensure compliance, and drive continuous improvement.
- Manage Workers Compensation & Return to Work by coordinating claims, partnering with insurers and key stakeholders, implementing effective rehabilitation and return-to-work programs, and analysing injury trends to identify opportunities for prevention and improved outcomes.




- Legislative & Policy Leadership - Maintain up-to-date knowledge of WHS, Workers Compensation, and rehabilitation legislation, and ensure organisational policies and procedures remain aligned with regulatory requirements.

To be successful in this role, you will bring:

- A tertiary qualification in Workplace Health & Safety, Occupational Health & Safety, Human Resources, or a related discipline.
- SIRA accreditation as a Return-to-Work Coordinator, with demonstrated experience managing workers compensation claims and return-to-work programs.
- Strong knowledge of NSW workers compensation, rehabilitation, and workplace health and safety legislation.
- Previous experience in a WHS, injury management, or return-to-work role, ideally within a regulated environment.
- Proven ability to build effective relationships and provide practical advice to leaders, employees, insurers, and external stakeholders.
- Solid analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify trends and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
- Well-developed written and verbal communication skills, with experience developing policies, procedures, reports, and training materials.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and HRIS platforms, with ELMO experience highly regarded.
- A willingness to travel to services located across Western Sydney and the Blue Mountains as required.
- Experience within the not-for-profit, early childhood education, education, or community services sectors (desirable).
- A cleared Working with Children Check (WWCC)
- Valid Child Safety Training Certification
- A cleared National Police Check
- A valid driver’s licence and access to a vehicle
