We are currently seeking an experienced Mechanical Fitter / Heavy Vehicle & Plant Technician to join an industry-leading company based in Glendenning, specialising in the repair, overhaul and manufacture of gearboxes and driveline components for heavy vehicles, trucks, mining and mobile plant equipment.

This is a hands-on mechanical role suited to someone with a strong background in heavy vehicle, earthmoving, mobile plant, mining or industrial mechanical repairs.

About the Role

Working within a skilled workshop team, you will be responsible for the disassembly, inspection, repair and reassembly of gearboxes, transmissions and other heavy mechanical components.

The role will involve

- Stripping down and rebuilding gearboxes, transmissions and driveline components
- Inspecting mechanical components for wear, damage and faults
- Identifying repair requirements and replacing components as required
- Working with shafts, bearings, gears, seals, couplings and other mechanical components
- Fault finding and diagnosing mechanical issues
- Reading and following technical manuals and manufacturer specifications
- Testing and checking completed repairs
- Completing repair reports and quality documentation
- Using a range of hand and power tools
- Potentially attending customer sites to carry out field servicing, diagnostics and repairs

What Experience Are We Looking For? We are particularly interested in candidates with a heavy mechanical background, including experience working on:
- Heavy vehicles and trucks
- Earthmoving and mobile plant
- Mining equipment
- Construction equipment
- Diesel-powered heavy equipment
- Transmissions,



gearboxes and driveline systems
- Heavy mechanical rebuilds, repairs and maintenance

You may currently be working as a Heavy Vehicle Mechanic, Diesel Fitter, Plant Mechanic, Mechanical Fitter, Heavy Equipment Technician or similar. The key requirement is strong practical mechanical experience and the ability to strip, diagnose, repair and rebuild heavy mechanical equipment.

Requirements

- Trade qualification in Mechanical Fitting, Heavy Vehicle, Diesel Fitting, Plant Mechanics or equivalent
- Demonstrated experience working on heavy vehicles, mobile plant, mining or industrial equipment
- Strong mechanical fault-finding and diagnostic ability
- Ability to read technical manuals and apply mechanical principles
- Confident using hand and power tools
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality and safety

Forklift and overhead crane experience would be highly regarded but are not essential. What's on Offer?
