We are currently seeking experienced Vehicle Mechanics: Heavy Vehicle or Plant Mechanics to play a key role in keeping the fleet of trucks, heavy vehicles, and equipment in top condition. Based at the Wilberforce Depot, this hands-on role is ideal for experienced mechanics looking to work in a supportive, safety-focused team.

- Monday - Thursday | 9.5 hr days
- Spread of hours covers 5:30am to 6:30pm
- Requirement to participate in on-call roster system
- Available for after hours response
- Applicant must provide own tools

Key Responsibilities:

- Complete minor and major services on Council vehicles and plant
- Diagnose and repair faults on Council plant and equipment as required
- Carry our maintenance on Council equipment, including but not limited to chainsaws, brushcutters, mowers, passenger vehicles, trucks and earth moving equipment
- Diagnose mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and transmission faults
- Carry out oxy and mig welding repairs
- Keep accurate maintenance and service records
- Maintain workshop safety and assist with parts inventory
- Ensure all work complies with WHS and environmental standards

What You'll Need:





- Trade qualification in Heavy Diesel Mechanics or Plant Mechanics
- At least 5 years of hands-on experience with heavy vehicles and machinery is essential
- Solid knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulics, and electrical systems
- Experience with diagnostic tools and ECMs
- HR Driver's Licence
- Robust teamwork, communication, and problem-solving skills
- White Card
- Australian citizenship or permanent residency required

Highly Regarded:

- Heavy Vehicle Registration Inspector certification
- Welding and fabrication experience
- Confined Space Ticket
- Permit to operate Backhoe, Loader, Forklift, Mobile HIAB
- Auto Electrical experience desirable
