About the role

Icatha HS Pty Ltd is seeking a Hospitality Assistant Accountant / Bookkeeper to join our growing team in Brisbane. This is a full time position based in Brisbane QLD 4000.

As Hospitality Assistant

Accountant / Bookkeeper, you will play a vital role in supporting the financial operations of our hospitality business, ensuring accurate records, timely bookkeeping processes, and reliable financial information to support management decision-making. This position offers an excellent opportunity to develop your accounting skills within a dynamic hospitality environment.

Key responsibilities

- Maintain accurate and up-to-date general ledger accounts and financial records for the hospitality business
- Process accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions, including invoice verification and payment reconciliation
- Perform bank reconciliations on a regular basis to ensure all transactions are accurately recorded
- Assist with monthly bookkeeping tasks, including journal entries, expense coding, and transaction categorisation
- Prepare and maintain supporting documentation for audit purposes, ensuring compliance with accounting standards
- Assist with the preparation of financial statements and management reports
- Support the payroll process, including timekeeping records and wage-related documentation
- Liaise with external accountants and auditors as required
- Utilise accounting software and systems to record, process and report financial information accurately
- Identify and resolve discrepancies and irregularities in financial records

What we're looking for

- A qualification in bookkeeping, accounting or a related financial discipline (such as Certificate III or IV in Accounting, or equivalent experience)
- Proven experience working in a bookkeeping or accounting support role, preferably within the hospitality industry
- Proficiency with accounting software packages and Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel




- Strong attention to detail with the ability to maintain accuracy when managing multiple financial records
- A solid understanding of bookkeeping principles, GST compliance, and basic accounting concepts
- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to prioritise tasks and meet deadlines
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with team members and external stakeholders
- Familiarity with MYOB, Xero or similar cloud-based accounting platforms is advantageous
- Knowledge of hospitality industry accounting practices and requirements is highly desirable
- A commitment to professional development and continuous learning within the accounting field
