Senior Civil Drafter

Help Shape Victoria’s Transport Future with KBR

KBR delivers multidisciplinary engineering and design services across complex transport infrastructure programs. Our civil teams support the planning, design and delivery of projects that improve the safety, capacity and connectivity of transport networks.

Based in Melbourne, this role will contribute to roads, highways and rail projects, with a preference for candidates who understand Victorian project environments, drafting conventions and transport authority requirements.

You will work closely with civil engineers, designers, project managers and other drafters to prepare coordinated, accurate and constructible drawing packages across the project lifecycle.

The role offers a balance of hands-on technical drafting, independent delivery responsibility and day-to-day mentoring of younger civil drafters.

The Chance

We are seeking an experienced Senior Civil Drafter to join our Melbourne-based civil team. You will support the delivery of transport infrastructure projects across roads, highways and rail, taking ownership of drafting tasks and producing high-quality deliverables with limited supervision.

You will be fluent in Bentley MicroStation and capable of working efficiently within established project standards, workflows and document control requirements. The role also requires confidence in coordinating with engineers and designers, resolving drafting issues, checking work and providing practical guidance to other civil drafters in the team.

Key responsibilities

In this role, you will:

- Prepare and revise civil drawings for roads,



highways and rail infrastructure projects using Bentley MicroStation
- Deliver drafting packages independently, from mark-ups and design inputs through to issue-ready documentation
- Interpret engineering sketches, design information, survey data and project requirements accurately
- Apply relevant project drafting standards, client requirements, drawing conventions and document control processes
- Coordinate with civil engineers, designers, project managers and other disciplines to maintain drawing accuracy and project alignment
- Undertake drawing checks, identify inconsistencies and support the resolution of technical and coordination issues
- Plan and prioritise assigned work to meet agreed quality, budget and programme requirements
- Mentor and support younger civil drafters by sharing technical knowledge, reviewing work and promoting consistent drafting practices

About you

You will bring:

- 6 to 10 years of civil drafting experience on transport infrastructure projects, including roads, highways and rail
- Demonstrated fluency in Bentley MicroStation, with the ability to produce accurate drawings efficiently and independently
- Experience working on Victorian transport infrastructure projects is preferred
- A Diploma or Associate Degree in Civil Engineering, civil design/drafting,



or an equivalent relevant qualification; strong communication, coordination and time-management skills; and a collaborative approach to mentoring and supporting less experienced team members
- Sound knowledge of civil drafting principles, drawing presentation and quality assurance processes
- The ability to interpret design information, identify issues and seek or provide clarification as appropriate
