About the role
Pharmacy 777 Geraldton is seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Intern Pharmacist to join our pharmacy team in Geraldton, WA. This is an excellent opportunity for a pharmacy graduate or final-year pharmacy student to gain practical experience in a full-time position within a dynamic healthcare environment. As an Intern Pharmacist, you will work under the supervision of registered pharmacists to develop your clinical skills, knowledge and understanding of pharmacy practice while contributing meaningfully to our patient care services.
This role is essential in supporting our commitment to delivering high-quality pharmaceutical care to our community.
What you'll be doing
- Assisting in the dispensing of medications, including preparing prescriptions and ensuring accuracy and compliance with pharmaceutical regulations
- Providing basic pharmaceutical advice and information to customers under the supervision of registered pharmacists
- Conducting medication reconciliation and reviewing patient medication histories
- Assisting with the management and organisation of pharmacy inventory, stock control and ordering procedures
- Supporting clinical services such as immunisations, health screenings and medication management reviews
- Maintaining accurate pharmacy records and documentation in compliance with relevant legislation and standards
- Collaborating with healthcare professionals to optimise patient outcomes and resolve medication-related issues
- Participating in career development activities and gaining experience across various pharmacy practice settings
- Adhering to all professional standards, ethics and regulatory requirements within the pharmacy profession
What we're looking for
- Successful completion of an approved Bachelor of Pharmacy or Master of Pharmacy degree from an Australian pharmacy school accredited by the Australian Pharmacy Council (APC), or completion of the Overseas Pharmacist Readiness Assessment (OPRA) exam.
- Full Australian working rights
- Currently residing in Australia with the ability to relocate within the next 4 weeks
- Strong understanding of pharmaceutical sciences, pharmacology and therapeutics
- Excellent attention to detail with a commitment to accuracy and patient safety
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with patients, healthcare professionals and team members
- Proficiency with pharmacy software systems and computer literacy
- Knowledge of relevant pharmacy legislation, regulations and professional standards
- A professional approach with integrity, reliability and a willingness to learn
- Ability to work as part of a team whilst demonstrating initiative and responsibility
- First aid certification or willingness to obtain it is desirable but not essential
