About the Role

We are seeking a motivated, detail-oriented, and enthusiastic Laboratory Assistant to join our NATA-accredited laboratory in Perth. This is an exciting prospect to gain hands-on experience in a professional genomics laboratory, supporting the delivery of cutting-edge services including Sanger Sequencing and Next-Generation Sequencing (NGS). Working alongside experienced scientists and technical specialists, you will play an important role in ensuring the smooth and efficient processing of samples while contributing to high-quality outcomes for our clients.

Key Responsibilities

In this role, you will:

- Receive, sort, register, and track samples through the laboratory workflow
- Assist with routine molecular biology procedures, including nucleic acid extraction and quality control assessments
- Support template preparation for sequencing analysis
- Perform routine laboratory tasks in accordance with established protocols and quality standards
- Assist with laboratory equipment operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting
- Maintain laboratory consumables and assist with stock management
- Contribute to a safe, organised, and efficient laboratory environment




- Support compliance with NATA accreditation requirements and quality management systems

About You

To be successful in this role, you will have a genuine interest in laboratory science and a commitment to quality, accuracy, and teamwork.

Essential Criteria

- TAFE Diploma or Undertaking studies towards tertiary degree in Molecular Biology or related field
- Knowledge of basic laboratory processes and molecular biology techniques
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to producing accurate work
- Well-developed organisational and time management skills
- Basic computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel
- Effective written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment

Desirable Criteria

- Tertiary qualification in Molecular Biology or a related scientific discipline
- Ability to prioritise tasks and manage multiple activities independently
- Strong problem-solving and critical-thinking skills
- Previous customer service or client-facing experience
- Experience working with molecular biology equipment and technologies, including qPCR, sequencing platforms, and laboratory automation systems
