? Lead Microservices & AI Technical Architect – EL2 Equivalent | Canberra / Hybrid

ScrumCraft is seeking a Lead Microservices and AI Technical Architect to support the Department of Industry, Science and Resources (DISR).

? Location: Canberra, ACT (Hybrid with flexible/remote options)

? Level: EL2 Equivalent

? Contract: 12 months + 12‑month extension (2 x extensions)

⏰ Hours: Up to 40 hours/week

? Clearance: Must be able to obtain Baseline

? Start: 1 October 2026

Key Responsibilities

- Provide technical leadership and architectural authority for cloud‑native, microservices and AI‑enabled platforms
- Guide adoption of AI across the software delivery lifecycle, including AI‑enabled SDLC, DevSecOps, CI/CD, observability and automated testing
- Drive technology modernisation, microservices uplift, containerisation and enterprise system integration
- Lead engineering governance, capability uplift and knowledge transfer across multidisciplinary teams
- Influence system builds, engineering decisions and platform evolution aligned with enterprise architecture and security objectives

Essential Experience

✅ Extensive experience designing and governing cloud‑native,



microservices and event‑driven architectures in complex enterprise environments

✅ Demonstrated expertise in AI engineering, semantic search, ML solutions and responsible AI practices

✅ Strong software and platform engineering capability (DevSecOps, CI/CD, automated testing, observability, security‑by‑design)

✅ Proven leadership in enterprise technology modernisation, platform reliability, scalability and engineering maturity uplift

✅ Exceptional stakeholder engagement and communication skills, with experience leading multidisciplinary teams and senior executives

Desirable

⭐ Experience with Kubernetes, OpenShift, AKS, EKS or GKE

⭐ Experience in cloud platform modernisation, SRE, observability tooling and automation

⭐ Experience leading delivery in Agile environments and uplifting geographically dispersed teams

About the Program

DISR is establishing its first enterprise Microservices and Event‑Driven Architecture foundations and embedding AI‑enabled engineering practices across the delivery lifecycle. This role is central to shaping up-to-date engineering standards, platform evolution and organisational capability uplift.
