About the role

As Lecturer (Level B) in the School of Nursing, you will teach into the Bachelor of Nursing and contribute to its academic quality, currency and student outcomes. Reporting to the Course Coordinator (Bachelor of Nursing) within the School of Nursing, you will hold unit-coordination responsibility for allocated units, deliver theory / laboratory / simulation teaching, contribute to moderation and curriculum review, participate in student placement preparation and support, and mentor Lecturer (Level A) colleagues. This is an independent teaching, scholarship and administrative role at Academic Level B under the Higher Education Industry — Academic Staff — Award 2020, with genuine scope to grow into curriculum leadership and applied research over time.

Key Responsibilities

- Coordinate and deliver allocated Bachelor of Nursing units, including unit planning, LMS content, teaching, assessment and moderation, in line with relevant academic, professional and accreditation standards.
- Deliver engaging theory, tutorial, laboratory and simulation-based teaching, embedding cultural safety, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health perspectives,



evidence-based practice and digital health capability.
- Develop, mark and moderate assessments, contribute to results review and Board of Examiners processes, and maintain accurate academic and moderation records.
- Support simulation and professional experience placement activities in collaboration with relevant clinical, placement and facilitation teams.
- Foster a safe, inclusive and supportive learning environment, provide academic support and identify and escalate students requiring additional assistance.
- Contribute to curriculum development, unit review, continuous improvement, accreditation, quality assurance and regulatory compliance activities.
- Mentor junior academic staff and maintain active scholarship, professional practice, clinical currency and ongoing professional development, including current Ahpra registration.

Essential Criteria

- A Master's degree (AQF 9) in nursing or a closely related discipline (meets the AQF+1 requirement for a Bachelor-level course). Equivalence may be assessed under IHM's academic staff qualifications and equivalence process.
- Current unrestricted registration as a Registered Nurse with Ahpra (NMBA), with demonstrated currency of clinical practice.
- 3 years' post-registration clinical nursing experience.
- Prior higher education teaching experience in an accredited pre-registration nursing program (or demonstrated readiness to teach at Level B).
- Working knowledge of the ANMAC RN Accreditation Standards 2019, NMBA Registered Nurse Standards for Practice, AQF and HES Framework 2021.
- Experience in unit coordination, assessment design and moderation.
- Demonstrated commitment to cultural safety and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health,



including familiarity with the Nursing and Midwifery ATSI Health Curriculum Framework.
- Strong interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills and a cooperative approach to teamwork.

Desirable

Doctoral qualification or active candidature (AQF 10); tertiary teaching qualification (Graduate Certificate in Higher Education or equivalent); experience with Canvas LMS, simulation-based learning and blended delivery; record of peer-reviewed publications or applied scholarly contributions; experience mentoring early-career academics; multi-campus or regional / rural workforce experience.
