The Integrated Network Operations Branch operates and optimises Queensland's road network and is leading planning for coordinated road network operations as part of the Games Transport Program.
This is a unique opportunity to contribute to a globally significant event while helping shape the future operation of Queensland's road network. You will work across complex planning environments, using data, modelling and operational insights to support evidence-based decision making and coordinated transport outcomes.
About the role**This opportunity is temporary full-time until 30 June 2029.**The Director (Operational Games Planning) provides strategic leadership and technical expertise in operational planning, network optimisation, performance analysis and modelling activities supporting Queensland's road network and Brisbane 2032 Games planning.
Some of your responsibilities will include:- Lead strategically and set direction for the delivery of multiple complex projects and initiatives, including the development of network optimisation planning projects and Games-related operational planning activities, and the review performance andmodification post implementation.- Lead effective network analysis and modelling support to inform decision making, including the monitoring and measurement of road network operational use and performance, Games-time travel planning considerations, and progress against keyperformance indicators.- Strategic leadership of coordination of road operational planning for the Games transport program.- Identify emerging problems,
risks and opportunities and proactively take action to address problems and take advantage of opportunities for the department.- Communicate and present technical data, models and information to a range of stakeholders.- Provide high-level leadership and influence to ensure the operational intent of the road network during the Games is integrated into project planning.- Build constructive relationships with Games agencies, delivery partners, regions, districts, industry partners, government agencies and internal TMR teams- Provide strategic and authoritative advice to senior leaders on Games-related operational and optimisation planning, contributing to decisions that advance statewide road network operations and support branch and departmental priorities.- Promote and encourage a workplace culture that is outcomes focused, cooperative, engaged and seeks continuous improvement in processes and practices.
About you- Current C class driver's licence.- A criminal history check will be undertaken prior to appointment.
Mandatory qualifications and conditionsYou are a collaborative and accountable leader with expertise in data analysis, modelling, research and transport planning. You can build strong stakeholder relationships, exercise sound judgement and deliver practical solutions in complex environments.
Desirable requirements- Degree qualifications in Traffic and Transport Engineering, Transport Planning, Town Planning, Statistics, Economics, Geospatial Science, Data Science, Mathematics or a related discipline would be highly regarded.
